Jason Robinson, inventor of KartStraps and father of a toddler, was a company risk manager for a big box retailer responsible for investigating customer accidents in 108 stores across 26 states. This investigation experience gave Robinson insight into the insurance field, product liability and customer accidents involving infants, children and shopping carts.
Over the past 25 years toddler shopping cart accidents continue to rise year after year, and even with focus on education, there was nothing readily available for parents to eliminate these unnecessary shopping cart injuries, Robinson set out to find a solution. In 2017 he designed a safety apparatus to secure infant carriers over the shopping cart toddler seating area, or interior basket area. Regarding the toddler seating area, KartStraps utilize the same concept as existing safety apparatuses attached on top of shopping carts around the world, but are not readily available to parents. When those existing safety apparatuses are not readily available, or parents are not familiar with them, they either place the infant carrier inside the basket or on top of the shopping cart.
After researching existing patents, Robinson partnered with two long standing companies in Chicago, IL to manufacture and assemble his invention in November 2017. Proudly made in the USA, KartStraps not only ensures a safer shopping experience for toddlers and parents, but a more relaxing one, too!
A personal note from the founder:
"We take this opportunity to express our appreciation and honest thanks for the tremendous time and energy these outstanding people and companies have spent helping KartStraps come to fruition. You all have been absolutely fantastic and have gone over and above my best expectations. KartStraps would still be an idea if it wasn’t for all of you. We are very proud of this product due to the dedication and commitment you have provided through this journey."
